<h1>WOMEN’S SAFETY IN INDIA- WHY IS IT STILL LACKING?</h1><h1>INTRODUCTION</h1>&nbsp;It is the most concerning topic which is always in discussion. Have you ever wondered why? After listening to all the news of a woman being Raped, Kidnapped we always have one question in our mind will we ever be able to walk on the roads without any fear. Believe me when I say there are cases where women are not allowed to step out of the house because the family always has one thing in mind. What if something happens to her? Women's safety is a major concern in India. Not only outside, but women are not safe in Indian houses. We keep on hearing cases of domestic violence. None of this should stop women from doing their social activities. But there should be proper safety measures to protect women. This might hurt some people but this country is full of hypocrisy. We worship women and we celebrate Navratras. The festival of nine Devis. Women are a source of power, a source of money, and education. Still, they are not safe. I guess it would be true to say that women live in fear and terror. Women of all ages are facing some sort of crime from two-year-old to 80-year-old women. They are still being raped. Where they spend their whole life to break that barrier and go out to make a living for themselves. They lived and are still living in fear. Domestic abuse, murder, and dowry are common forms of violence against women in India. Girls are still forced to marry at a young age. They’re not even old enough to understand their responsibilities. These ways to torture women were not enough. Then we started harassing women with acid attacks. This ruins a woman's entire life. The most important way to ensure women’s safety in India is by making sure that they are empowered on an everyday basis.&nbsp;<h2>REASONS FEMALE SAFETY IS STILL LACKING&nbsp;</h2><img class="image_resized" style="width:48.59%;" src="https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/image_2_1e5a355d16.png" alt="image 2.png" srcset="https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/thumbnail_image_2_1e5a355d16.png 245w,https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/small_image_2_1e5a355d16.png 500w," sizes="100vw">According to data from the Delhi Police, at least six rape cases and seven cases of molestation have been filed daily in the national capital this year, as crimes against women continue to rise. More than 1,100 rape incidents have been reported in Delhi in the first six months of this year.According to the figures, rape cases have increased by 6% this year, while incidences of molestation and attack on women have increased by 17%. From January through July 15, 1,480 incidences of molestation and assault were reported. This year has also seen a considerable increase in the kidnapping and abduction of women, with a 20% increase over the previous year. With all of the information shown above, how can we increase women's safety? Instead of reducing, the numbers are growing. This puts Indian women in a terrible position. We don't know what's going on after reading all of this and looking at the numbers; what if it's much worse? How can women expect to live in peace and not be concerned about all of this?Let’s look at why women still get raped and why are they still not safe; Delayed punishment:&nbsp;Awarding the death penalty is subject to the rarest of rare cases. The death penalty will be pronounced if the crime has been committed in an extremely cruel and dreadful manner. The compulsory death penalty is against the constitutional rights of equality, the right to live, and personal liberty guaranteed under articles 14 and 21. In case the death penalty is granted execution takes ages. &nbsp;Lack of awareness:&nbsp;Our society, families, schools, and institutions fail to bring awareness among children, and youths regarding sex, and sex-related crimes. No proper counseling is provided to grownup boys and girls. The girls cannot share their problems with anyone even if they are bullied, or harassed. Objectification of women&nbsp;by entertainment industries is another reason why males take them for granted. The way women are portrayed in film songs, and the words used to describe them are very disgusting.<h2>WHAT CHANGES CAN BE DONE</h2><img class="image_resized" style="width:43.52%;" src="https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/image_1_d20b01aff7.png" alt="image 1.png" srcset="https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/thumbnail_image_1_d20b01aff7.png 245w,https://strapi.thekarmapoints.com/uploads/small_image_1_d20b01aff7.png 500w," sizes="100vw">Psycho-Social counseling sessions&nbsp;must be conducted in schools and colleges to take feedback from girls, and parents at home must take feedback to know if anything wrong happens with their girls.Societal Change: In our society people should openly discuss sex and sex-related crimes, about menstruation. Parents must treat their male and female children equally and should not allow them to remain aloof, and isolated.&nbsp;Sex education must be imparted to students, and youths must be sensitized on sex, and sex-related crimes about rape too.&nbsp;Self-defense training in schools and colleges must be mandatory. It works on raising social awareness and improving the effectiveness of welfare benefits for girls. But even with this scheme, we hear many cases where women are not given proper education.&nbsp; &nbsp;Women helpline schemelaunched in April 2015 women's helpline scheme aims to provide women who have experienced abuse and either public or private settings. It is a 24/7 toll-free number which is 1818 provides quick assistance to women &nbsp;Swadhar Greh&nbsp;It is a scheme for women's empowerment, it was launched in 2018.
